Interpersonal Roles

Resident Advisor

During my final year as an undergraduate at NC State, I became a Resident Advisor on campus, a role which placed me as the first point of contact for over 200 students living on campus. During this time, I coordinated countless educational and social events, mediated conflict between residents, connected students with resources to aid in their academic success, and organized a nicotine recovery program with the Raleigh Addiction Center. I found my time as an RA to be greatly rewarding, and by graduation, I had been nominated for RA of the year by University Housing.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Ambassador

When I first arrived at NC State, I quickly found myself wanting to get involved with the engineering program. My freshman year I joined the ECE Ambassadors, a group of engineering students that specialized in giving tours of campus, meeting with prospective students, hosting events, organizing graduations, and volunteering for local STEM camps. While balancing the Ambassadors with my engineering coursework was challenging, my organizational skills improved greatly during this time, and I was elected Secretary during my second year. My time with the ECE Ambassadors allowed me to interact with hundreds of new students and parents, improving my public speaking skills and allowing me to give back to my campus.

Python Instructor

During the summer of 2020, I had the opportunity to work as an online Python 3.0 instructor for iD Tech. In this role I taught middle and high school students the basics of programming, Python syntax, debugging skills, and game design. While I designed my own lesson plans and games, I often found myself working on my feet to answer questions, cater lessons towards a student’s personal interests, and debug programs and games that were not behaving as expected. As an engineer with an interest in people, this was an excellent chance to merge two of my passions while developing my skills as a software engineer.
